c-treeACE Standalone Deployment Pricing
For customers deploying one of the c-treeACE standalone (non-server) operational models, the price is $10 per user. A "user" includes any person, device or process that may access the application.

The following are some of the more common questions and answers regarding distribution of applications that use a standalone model.
Q: What do I need to do to begin distributing my application that uses a standalone configuration of c-treeACE?
A: First, you will execute a Standalone Deployment Amendment which gives you the right to deploy your software application. You will then purchase blocks of user licenses from FairCom to satisfy your deployment needs. Each block must be for at least 100 user licenses, and the right to deploy any given block of licenses expires one year from the date of purchase. When the block is purchased, the invoice provided by FairCom will show the block size and expiration date.
Q: What if I send out updates to the application. Do I have to assign a new user license for every update I send out throughout the year?
A: The license you purchase for any given user is valid for one year. So if you purchase that license on January 1, for example, you can keep sending out updates for that user throughout the year. At the end of the year, you will need to again allocate a license for that user from any available license block you have, or purchase a new block.
Q: I purchased a block of 100 licenses and I have deployed all of those to my customers. For the next 2 years I have no plan to send out any shipments to new customers or upgrades to existing customers. Do I have to buy another block of 100 during each or the next two years, or only when I deploy my new version?
A. Since you will not be sending out anything to new or existing customers, you do not need to purchase anything until you are ready to begin deploying again.
Q: I use c-tree for an application that is used within my company. Do I need to count deployments to internal users?
A: Yes. When we use the terms "deployment" or "distribute" we include all internal and external use.
Q: A 30-day evaluation edition of my application can be downloaded from the Web at no charge, but we do charge for the full version. Do I need to buy user licenses for evaluation editions?
A: Licenses do not need to be purchased for demonstration and evaluation editions. However, if you offer a "lite" edition that does not expire but simply has fewer features than a "professional" edition, you would need to purchase user licenses for distributions of the "lite" edition.
Q: I understand that the standalone pricing is based on the number of users who access an application. I have three applications that use a standalone configuration of c-treeACE. If one user accesses all three of those applications, do I need to buy one license or three?
A: If the applications are sold separately, you must buy three licenses for that user.
Q: My application is provided to resellers who in turn duplicate the CDs and sell them to end-users. My resellers are paid a flat amount regardless of the quantity sold, so I don't know how many end-users are out there. What fees do I pay?
A: We recognize that our software is implemented in a wide variety of ways where determining the total number of users accessing the software is not feasible. If you can't confirm the number, contact FairCom to pursue alternative licensing models.
